Continued Success of Local Connexions Youth Service

Young people in Hailsham can receive free support and advice to ensure a smooth transition to adulthood and working life, via the Connexions youth facility at Info-Point.

Those aged between 16 and 19 (and older for those with special needs) can come into the centre at 1 Market Square and speak to a Personal Adviser who can provide free careers advice and assist with course applications, volunteering and training opportunities that are right for them. Andy Joyes, the town council’s youth project coordinator, said: "It is important that we continue to offer support to young people in Hailsham.  The Connexions service brings us closer to our objective of providing them with an array of choices and opportunities, removing obstacles to learning and development, and encouraging them to achieve their full potential in adult life.”   Town Mayor Cllr Dr Ian Haffenden said: “In order to make choices and progress successfully through their teenage years, young people in Hailsham need the best impartial information and guidance possible.” “The continued success of the Connexions service in Hailsham since its opening in January 2008 clearly demonstrates the town council’s willingness to work with youth service partner organisations in providing the best service for young people in the town.” The Connexions drop-in centre is open Wednesdays (9.30am-1.00pm). Alternatively, you can telephone for an appointment on 01273 473141 or 07905 596116. FOR ALL ENQUIRIES RELATING TO THIS PRESS RELEASE, CONTACT: Terry Hall, Hailsham Town Council (01323) 841702
