The founders at Elite Dad wanted to encourage dads to reclaim the role of the father in the family. Their product launch represents a movement away from a feminized, pitiful role the father has been given in today's media and a return to a strong male presence in the family.
Special interest groups have expressed anger and disdain at the concept, hitting the site with some angry emails.
The Co-founders of Elte Dad simply wanted fathers to identity with strong male roles, and they encourage dads to resist the feminizing pressures put onto them by modern society.
"An Elite Dad has no problem telling his child to toughen up, or his spouse to relax while he tries to solve a problem," says Phillip, co-founder of EliteDad.com . "It is time to swing the pendulum back, strong fathers are not the bumbling idiots you see on TV, laughed at, pitied and powerless."
Elite Dads may be taking back some control of the male role in the family, but they were unprepared for the animosity aimed at them from some feminist groups.
"Hopefully, we can use this opportunity to bridge a communication gap between men and women so that both partners feel secure in their role raising children," says Jamie Neely the other Co-founder of the program, "we feel the family is stronger when the father embraces a strong role, connected to, but independent of the femine role."
An interesting concept no doubt, there does seem to be a growth in the market surrounding strong dads, but these entrepreneurs may not have expected a brush with the powerful feminist movement so early in the launch of their product.
