I am writing about a matter which requires immediate attention.
The U.S.M.C. (29 Palms, Ca.) is planning on taking over 424,000 acres of land, most of which is state or
federal wilderness area. Some of which is considered "Areas of Critical Environmental Concern". These areas are home to the endangered Desert Tortoise, and Bighorn Sheep, as well as other rare desert plants and wildlife.
This area will become aerial bombing ranges and tactical maneuvers - live fire areas. In other words, certain death for these species. Not to mention the water and air pollution.
MCAGCC has said that they have held the initial NEPA "public" hearings, but these hearings were not publicized. I am a property owner in the proposed and there was NO notification of these hearings of any kind. The NEPA hearings deadline is Jan. 30, 2009.
It is quite apparent that the Marine Corps is trying to sneak this by without any opposition by any environmental groups.
And this doesn't address the thousands of people who will loose their homes.
I will send more information as it becomes available.
Detailed information can be found at:

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated
Sincerely
