Trouble is we hardly recieve any donations. WE PUT ON MASSIVE EVENTS highlighting and raising awareness to the talents and the passions for the arts that exist within the margins of society at the most unbelievable venues; The Leicester Square Theatre and Qunitessentiallysoho @ The House of St Barnabus to name but two. WE FILLED BOTH VENUES TO CAPACITY AND TOOK THE ROOF OFF! The reason we do not charge entrance fee's or issue tickets is because if one person couldn't come because they couldn't afford the price of a ticket we wouldn't be doing our job properly or fulfilling our promise. WE HAVE NEVER CHARGED FOR AN ART SAVES LIVES EVENT! I always stand out front, giving it my best, trying to be heartfelt and funny at the same time. I always tell the truth, I tell everyone in attendance that we have a donation button that is neglected, a button that likes to be pressed every once in a while, don't we all have one of thos buttons? It always raises a giggle that one. But guess what? it still remains neglected. The Leicester Square Theatre was amazing. Over 12 acts sang and acted their hearts and souls out for over 300 members of audience. WE RECIEVED THROUGH OUR DONATION BUTTON £35 QUID!...Do the math? Thats ten pence per person!....Shame on you! The amazing gig at the House of St Barnabas fared even worse! NOT ONE PENNY WAS DONATED from over 100 members of audience who attended and who were amazed at the array of talent on show.
ART SAVES LIVES has been running for one year now and we have just submitted our first annual accounts. YES you've guessed it, we've made a loss, not a great loss mind you but nevertheless a loss. I have been personally propping up the business with my own money.
I will constantly keep banging on about the arts from within the margins of society. I will constantly organise and put on free entry events. If I don't! Who will? Just because you pay for a ticket to something it doesn't make it any better! Just because a playwrite has a posh name, it doesn't mean its deeper or richer oe better written. Just because you pay a fiver for a Jack Daniels and Coke it doesn't mean that Jack tastes any sweeter.
