There has been a big growth in online auctions over the years. Starting with eBay.com, which was an industry leader no one could touch for years. That's until penny auctions started like the well known Bidz.com opened.
Even tho the penny auction idea was new and in a way exciting it's didn't really break the mold on how the auctions are ran. It's the same old thing really.... You have a button on a page with the current bid and who the winning bidder is. The only different is Bidz.com auctions off much of their own merchandise while eBay.com is products small business or people from all around the world just don't want anymore.
The sad fact is, many people who use these auctions sites don't know the joy or the excitement of going to a live auction. To hear the item they've waited for to be announced by the auctioneer, to hear him give the details of the item, knowing that in just a few short minutes that item could be their own if their price is right. That's where a newly founded company, AAA-Auctionhouse.com truly breaks the mold!
They have worked hard at emulating the experience of going to a live auction. They have done this through the use of audio/video feeds inside chat rooms built into a well known community software, used by thousands of sites all over the net. Of course we have asked our selves, why build an auction site on top of a community software, and their response actually surprised us.
“We have built this software on top of a community software for many reason. First of all most people out there use some forum of community software each and every day. Whether it be Facebook, Myspace, or any other number of online communities. So this will help people integrate into our system by simply ease of use.”
“ Another major reason we have decided on this software is because it allows both buyers and sellers to keep in constant contact with each other, both before and after every auction. This will allow our sellers to answer any question about up coming auctions and allow them to send important information, such as payment instructions right inside our system to help protect sensitive information like email addresses.”
“We also like the fact that like any online community you can leave comments on other people pages. This will allow members to share their experience with any one particulate member, weather it be a buyer or seller. This could be used to both tell others of how professional a sellers is or to warn others that they are a non-performing seller (someone who collects payment and doesn't send the item out). This will also allow our sellers to warn other sellers of non-performing bidders (a bidder who never sends out payments). It will just one or two times of a seller not sending out an item for people to know not to use them and their auctions will end up being a waste of time as no one will bid on them, or in the opposite will allow auctioneers to block the non-performing bidders from their rooms all together.”
We have looked over their site in it's entirety and have seen how this concept can indeed work. Not only work but with the help of a true community be possibly one of the safest sites of doing business on the net. If the community it's self just writes simple short reviews on their bidders and sellers then everyone will know who they are dealing with and feel safe in dealing with each other. Of course we had to ask what happens in the event someone in a non-performing seller?
“We charge a monthly fee in order to sell with our site. In the event an auctioneer is non-performing we will cancel their membership and prorate their account up to it's date of closure. We will then split the left over money between any person who has paid that seller to help rescue any money loss. We will also personally contact paypal or any other payment service about this seller and help recover any money from them. In turn if a bidder is non-performing then we will simply block their IP from being able to access our servers so they can no longer bid in any online auction.”
We got a special sneak peak into this new and upcoming company and we have liked what we see. They are professional and not afraid to truly break the mold and make online auctions a truly fun and exciting way of doing online business. We personally can't wait for their first auctions to start in January, 2011 and I will personally be in there bidding on what every I can.
