Auctioneer & Appraiser Host Martin Willis & Phyllis Kao interview key players in the antiques trade

For the last year, auctioneer and appraiser Martin Willis and co-host Phyllis Kao have reported on nearly every facet of the antiques hobby through their independent Website antiqueauctionpodcast.com Across over 40 different segments, the two record and broadcast live interviews with notable personalities, dealers and artists on topics ranging from $1 million comic books to what it's like to be a real-life American picker.

Guest range from Reyne Haines on her book Vintage Watches, the Huber’s on American samplers, Wayne Hilt on early pewter, expert William Whetstone on World Hallmarks, as well as collectors on decoys and vintage autos with celebrity Adam Carolla. The two interview auctioneers, dealers and artists as well. Several guests make regular appearances on The Antiques Roadshow.

Some future podcasts will be in video as well and include Brimfield Antique Show, Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, behind the scenes at auctions and travels as far as Switzerland as well as Russia are in the mix.

Willis is an independent appraiser in Marin County, California. He's got more than 35 years of experience as a second generation auctioneer working in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Colorado and California, who's handled tens of thousands of antiques, collectibles and fine art pieces. Kao is a classical violinist and scholar who has recently returned to her antique roots by immersing herself in antique auctions, specializing in silver flatware and silver hollowware.
