iPhone App : Aircraft Registry, to identify aircraft type

This application enables plane spotters, aviation maintenance professionals or aviation enthusiasts to access official detailed information of planes registered in Switzerland, France, the United Kingdom or the United States.

AlpSoft Sàrl, specialists in the development of mobile marketing, is launching its iPhone platform for the recognition and identification of aircraft call signs. Aircraft Registry is available from today via Apple’s App store. This micro-application enables plane spotters, aviation maintenance professionals or aviation enthusiasts to access official detailed information of planes registered in Switzerland, France, the United Kingdom or the United States. Further countries will be added in the future. This platform can be used for other countries without the programme having to be downloaded again. How does this work?  You are looking for the aeroplane call sign HB-RSC. Once the "Aircraft Registry" application has been downloaded from the App Store, you will discover that it is a "Super Constellation" model 1049F-55 (C121C) built in 1955 by the construction company Lockheed Aircraft Corp.; a 40-seater plane currently used by the « Super Constellation Flyers » association in Basel.   Note that for call signs from countries where data is not yet available, the country of origin is listed.  For example, the programme shows that a call sign beginning with OO- corresponds to … Belgium! For this application, AlpSoft Sàrl in Sion (www.alpsoft.ch) uses data from the official databases of the OFAC (Switzerland), the FAA (United States), the CAA (United Kingdom) and the DGAC (France). This is guaranteed to be the most up-to-date information. According to Mr Jean-Yves Bonvin, president of the Aeroclub Valais, "Aircraft Registry is the tool that we have all been waiting for!  It will enable us to recognise an aircraft immediately, and to identify the people to be contacted.  It is a precious tool !”
