PASCO COUNTY– Gulfside Regional Hospice is pleased to announce that Bay News 9 anchor, Leigh Moody, will serve as the master of ceremonies for the awards at the third annual Hike for Hospice to be held on Sunday, November 8 in Wesley Chapel.
“Gulfside Regional Hospice is excited that Leigh will be able to serve as the emcee for the awards,†said Linda Ward, Gulfside’s president and CEO. “This year, both individuals and teams will be recognized for the funds that are raised for hospice care in Pasco County. We are also planning a special balloon release to remember and honor our loved ones that Leigh will lead.â€
The Hike for Hospice (5K – 3.1 mile walk) will be held at Wesley Chapel District Park, located at 7727 Boyette Road. Registration and check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. with the Hike commencing at 9 a.m. Mike Alstott, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers player, will be on hand to kick-off the Hike for Hospice.

It costs $25 for adults to participate in the walk. Children (10 and under) are free. All hikers will receive a t-shirt, a healthy morning snack and beverages with their registration.
All proceeds from the Hike for Hospice will be designated for patients and their families facing life-limiting illnesses in Pasco County, as well as support programs at Gulfside’s Hospice Houses and Bereavement Centers. The Hike for Hospice has raised more than $200,000 for Gulfside Regional Hospice since it began in 2007.

Moody serves as the Bay News 9 evening anchor Monday through Friday, and co-anchors the 7:00 News with Al Ruechel each weeknight. On Mondays she highlights weekly Everyday Heroes. Moody began her broadcasting career at WKMG in Orlando, after graduating from the University of Central Florida. She also has worked in Charleston, SC and Flint, MI before coming to work at Bay News 9 in 2002. She has won several Associated Press awards for her reporting, and she is currently part of a news team on Bay News 9 that won an AP award.
