Consider Vets When Hiring Warehouse Associates

Highly trained and motivated, distribution center managers are encouraged to look to vets to fill openings in the warehouse.

With the economic outlook improving, many DCs are hiring again.

In the July issue of industry newsletter "Distribution Center Management," Richard DiMaio, vice president of logistics services at Sears Holding Corp. encourages readers to consider hiring vets.

The U.S. military runs a huge, sophisticated logistics operation — and it's training a prime source of employees for DCs, says DiMaio.

By hiring vets, you get workers who are motivated, who know the supply chain, and who are committed to "doing the right thing."

DiMaio also points to the hiring partnership that Walgreens has with the military as an example of how valuable vets can be to DCs.
