Born into prverty in the state of Minnesota, Warren Levercom stole a toy truck from a neighbor's porch as a child of six and thus began a crime spree that lasted more than 20 years. He soon graduated to stealing bikes and cars, burglarizing apartments, then to armed robbery. State training schools couldn't hold him for long, and he established a pattern---crime, prison, release, repeat. It seemed that nothing could stop the cycle...until one day in 1967 when something shifted. Released a few weeks later, he was no longer behind bars. But who could imagine that one day he would find himself on the other side of the bars? With the love of a woman who believed in him Warren Levercom became a corrections officer who could help prisoners as few others could...and one who knew what prison is really like.
Warren Levercom was the 15th of 16 children born to Ralph and Iva Levercom.
