The Face-lifted Audi A6 with 572bhp RS6

The hugely powerful Audi RS6 Avant engine has now been slotted into the saloon model, giving the executive car scorching levels of performance.

Audi has also announced revisions to its A6 range, which are available to order now. The new Audi A6 ‘e’ model brings fuel economy to the fore. Its 2-litre TDI diesel engine is mated to a revised long-ratio gearbox and the body gets lowered suspension and aerodynamic tweaks to give it an average fuel economy of 53.3mpg and carbon dioxide emissions of just 139g/km. This engine replaces two outgoing Audi engines: the 3.2-litre V6 and 4.2-litre V8 petrol units. The new 3-litre V6 engine has been supercharged, and now offers up nearly as much torque as the old 4.2-litre V8, with 310lb/ft of pulling power (against 324lb/ft for the V8). Up front the driver and passenger get plenty of headroom and impressive adjustability, while three adults will slot into the rear seats with ease.
