Sheridan Genrich, from Sydney’s Lane Cove, was demoted to a short-haul attendant after she was threatened by authorities during a 2008 stopover in Beijing and deported because of her spiritual beliefs.

The problem is, this is not the only bad press that Qantas has been getting lately. Most people would have heard about their troubles with their A380 airbuses, and a string of other issues that are getting them all the wrong attention in the media.
This particular issue with China and Ms Genrich is not new either, it happened in 2008, and only now is coming back to haunt them. This is compounded by a string of safety issues plaguing the otherwise flawless airline over the last few months.
Is the flying kangaroo on it's last wings? And think of what all this bad press is adding up to for the abovementioned flying kangaroo. It's costing them their position in the marketplace as a 'safe' airline, with great service and customer satisfaction.
Ask yourself, would I be willing to fly with Qantas if I had to get on plane tomorrow? I think most people would think twice...
A little bit of bad press can be shrugged off, even capitalised upon. It is after all, free publicity, and everyone wants some of that! But I don't know, I think the big Q is in big trouble.
