UBS Manufacturing has launched its new company website, ubsmanufacturing.biz. The new site is designed to deliver a more comprehensive and pleasant online experience for the end-user. "Our objective with the new design was 1) to create an attractive interface; 2) to deliver comprehensive content within an easy-to-navigate envelope; 3) to increase access points to the company; and 4) to ensure easy scaleability as we expand. We believe this has been achieved with the site," said Aaron Grizzell, UBS Manufacturing's head of business development. The new site features interactive presentations and includes feeds for company news and commentaries, with an internal search function. Concerning the style, Grizzell stated, "we used an extensive style sheet, because we wanted to make sure that each element on our content pages translated accurately and symmetrically." Many of the site's interactive presentations are triggered by small thumbnails designed in Adobe Flash. According to Grizzell, UBS Manufacturing "wanted to balance animation with a 'less-is-more' approach, so we decided to design an array of thumbnails and individually disperse them throughout our content pages. Each thumbnail links to an interactive presentation or a relevant content page. Also, the site's main, homepage image is live and links to an introductory presentation. RSS fed news and commentary sections give viewers insight into the new developments within the company as well as management's perspectives on industry subjects. "We felt strongly about the commentary section," said Grizzell, "because it gives the viewer an insight into management's thoughts about the industry. Each and every commentary comes directly from our management team." With all of these features, perhaps the most impressive is the translation functionality. UBS Manufacturing's narrative content is all written with simple HTML(Hypertext Markup Language), which allows any browser's translation applet to translate the content. "This, I think is the most important feature for us," said Grizzell. " We wanted our site to translate within the frameworks of existing browsers to enable the widest dispersion and reach." The new website is part of the company's major outreach campaign.
