Ravensby Glass have recently been awarded BS EN 1279 Part 3, for insulated units incorporating Super Spacer, the standard for gas filled insulated sealed units. The company is the only one in Scotland to achieve Part 3 certification for insulated units manufactured with Super Spacer.
This certification is now a legal requirement for any company manufacturing sealed units incorporating gas filled cavities.
Part 3 for gas leakage rate is proving particularly difficult for companies to achieve. The standard has been set at 1% per yr for leakage therefore Ravensby are proud to have passed, with outstanding results.
Most glass manufacturers and processors commonly use Argon Gas as standard in order to improve the overall U-value performance of low-E insulated glazing units.
Argon Gas is a significant factor in improved thermal insulation as it reduces heat loss across the two panes by slowing down convection inside the air space.
Ravensby Glass is extremely proud of achieving Part 3 certification. Managing Director, Gordon Dickson, states, "the significant time and resource from the Ravensby team to achieve this important standard will benefit not only Ravensby but all our customers who can offer a high performance unit to maximise their sales potential through an enhanced Window Energy Rating.”
