Replacing the back light in a Dell D630 laptop requires multiple steps and a steady hand. Shut down the computer first and unplug it. Then, remove the battery pack. Work in a well lit area with ample space to store pieces of the computer as you disassemble. It may be helpful to label the pieces to aid in assembly. Remove the rubber tabs located on the corners and top edge of the open screen. These can be removed with your fingers and the stickiness should suffice for re-attachment. At the top of the screen carefully wedge a flat head screwdriver between the face plate from the LCD panel. Slowly pull the two pieces apart.Remove the Dell D630 LCD panel screws.Pull the Dell D630 LCD panel towards the keyboard to disconnect the LCD power inverter and the ribbon connection from the CPU to LCD panel.Disconnect the LCD power inverter. For the CCFL bulb length measurement, slide the silicone rubber end caps up the wiring.Trim the CCFL bulb end prong and reposition the silicone rubber end caps.
