Melbourne - Men of Australia stand up and fight for your masculinity, or maybe just the right to hold the BBQ tongs! The Heat Beads® 2008 BBQ Lovers Survey shows that 79% of the respondents are now BBQing women, as the man of the household waves goodbye to his long beloved past time of having a few beers whilst cooking the barby.
It has been a time honoured tradition in households across Australia to see the men gathered around the BBQ chatting about footy, with the women in the kitchen making salads and sharing gossip over a few wines. However, it now seems the tables have turned as gender roles are blurred and more women are seeking knowledge in the art of char grilling.
The art of char grilling is becoming increasingly popular amongst the Australian public as we embrace the American style grill, which leaves the food succulent with a distinct smokey flavour. 76% of respondents from the BBQ Lovers Survey, indicated they were interested in learning more about the art of char grilling while 76% of respondents are using solid BBQ fuel such as Heat Beads® BBQ Briquettes and Charcoal such as wood, to perfect that char grilling taste.
It seems that Australia is a babecue nation with 43% of respondents cooking their meals on a barbecue more than 5 times a week!As demonstrated in recent developments from an interview with former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair’s wife Cherie Blair, even Prince Phillip and the Queen are partial to a barbecue at their Balmoral estate in Scotland.Blair states, ‘I know that everyone thinks Australians are into their barbecues but the barbecues in Balmoral are definitely unique events’(http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/2008/05/25/2255052.htm).
So what are you waiting for? Ladies, get on board the barbecue revolution, and gentlemen fight for your right to barbecue...
