20-foot Cake at the Scarecrow Festival in Sturbridge!

Come to the Publick House Historic Inn to see the 20-foot Cake in celebration of our 20th Annual Scarecrow Festival!

The Publick House Historic Inn will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Scarecrow Festival October 17-18, 2009. To honor our 20th year, the Publick House Bake Shoppe will create and display a 20-foot long cake on Saturday October 17, 2009. The cake will be decorated with past and present Scarecrow Festival designs. The cake is expected to feed 1,500 people. Slices of the cake will be served at the Harvest Festival in exchange to donations to the Sturbridge Federated Church. The goal is to raise $2,000 for parish ministries.

The Publick House was established on the Sturbridge Common in 1771 by Colonel Ebenezer Crafts, who led the local militia against the British at the Battle of Lexington and Concord when the Revolutionary War began. A continuing program of preservation and renovation now means that the Publick House preserves its original 18th century charm while offering 21st century conveniences. www.publickhouse.com
