North American Rescue Expands Hyfin Chest Seal Product Line

North American Rescue Expands Hyfin Chest Seal Product Line

The newly expanded product line of HyFin® Chest Seals from North American Rescue, LLC (NAR) offers three specialized occlusive dressings specifically developed to provide solutions to meet the need for the management of casualties with penetrating chest injuries. Each HyFin® Chest Seal product is a self-adhesive occlusive dressing that features an enhanced adhesive gel formulated to create a superior seal, even in the most adverse conditions.

This new triad of occlusive dressings from NAR includes the enhanced HyFin® Chest Seal, the HyFin® Vent Chest Seal and the HyFin® Xtreme Chest Seal. Each version shares the following common features: specialized adhesive technology, a transparent backing to allow placement directly over the wound that easily conforms to the casualty’s chest, large, easily-visible red elliptical tab for single step peel-and-apply application that can also facilitate the burping of a wound, 100% latex free and they are Made in America. All HyFins® are supplied in a rugged, easy-to-open, foil package that allows for quick and effective application in extreme environments and feature North American Rescue’s Red Tip Technology™ mark of quality.

Along with these shared attributes, each product has unique features. The original HyFin® Chest Seal with Advanced Adhesive Technology has been increased in size to now measure 6” x 6”. For casualties with multiple penetrating injuries to the chest, commonly seen in blasts from improvised explosive devices and multiple fragment peppering wounds, NAR introduces the HyFin® Xtreme, which is sized at 9.25” x 8” and offers more than twice the surface area coverage of conventional chest seals. The new HyFin® Vent Chest Seal provides an occlusive chest dressing with a patented built-in vent that prevents airflow into the chest cavity during inspiration while allowing air to escape through the vent channel during exhalation, meeting the requirements of those treatment protocols that call for the use of a dressing secured on 3-sides or a vented/valve type chest seal.
Maximum success in managing open chest wounds requires an effective, easy-to-use and reliable chest seal. The new series of HyFin® Chest Seals addresses each of these requirements and more.

“Regardless of your protocols or requirements, the Hyfin® Chest Seal family of products has a solution that can meet your needs,” states Joanne Walter, Senior Vice President of Product Management. “We’re pleased to offer a superior product line that can help save lives.”
