ILM Sponsors Competitor In Mongol Rally

In July 2008, ILM sponsored ex-employee, Grahame Pepper, to embark on an 8000-mile car rally adventure through 12 countries in one month.

Grahame and his fellow co-driver set off on the 19th July from London simultaneously with over 200 other teams from international destinations, in their 1-litre car. The teams were left to choose their own route with the aid of only road maps and no support crew, once teams hit the open road - on average only half the teams make it to the finish line. The journey involved tackling some of the worst unsealed roads the world has to offer and the most basic of living conditions. ILM's support helped them in their quest to successfully travel though the UK, France, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungry, Slovakia, Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan to the finish line in the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar, and raise £1500 for charities CAMDA and Mercy Corps. CAMDA sets up projects to help meet the needs of nomadic herding families and Mercy Corps works with people amid disasters, conflicts and chronic poverty.
