Heather Clark Joins Groundwork San Diego-Chollas Creek as its Youth Program Director

Clark will co-lead Groundworks 2010-2011 Green Team, among other responsibilities.

Groundwork San Diego-Chollas Creek an independent, not-for-profit, environmental business that works within the Chollas Creek area, has hired Heather Clark as its youth program director.

“With knowledge of conservation, landscape design, and environmental issues, Heather is a tremendous asset for our organization, said Leslie Reynolds, board member for Groundwork San Diego-Chollas Creek. “Heather is a perfect fit for the youth director position, though she often performs above and beyond her job title.”

A media arts graduate from UC San Diego, Clark’s resume includes work in many outdoor environments, as project manager for Urban Plantations, a landscape design firm; outreach coordinator/copywriter for the Rancho Guajito Project under the Endangered Habitats League; senior instructor at Outdoor Outreach, a non-profit organization serving underprivileged youth; primary outdoor guide for Outback Adventures at UCSD; and outdoor educator at Boojum Institute for Experiential Education.

At Groundwork, Clark’s responsibilities include: co-leading Groundwork’s 2010-2011 Green Team; implementing and organizing grant-funded programs; overseeing the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of Earthlabs; and serving as a liaison with Outdoor Outreach, Millennial Tech Middle School, Lincoln High School, and other Groundwork partners.

Founded in 2007, Groundwork San Diego-Chollas Creek works in partnership with the City of San Diego and the Chollas Creek communities of Southeastern San Diego to improve the environment, economy and quality of life there. With the assistance of students, families, businesses, and partner organizations, Groundwork restores creek and open space, tracks and saves species, and provides educational outreach around conservation, clean water, and climate challenge issues.
