Vinum Essentia est Vitae is a small wine industry information, promotion and marketing group headquartered in the Green Mountains of Vermont. The group was formed in the early part of 2010 after its founder recognized the continuation of several disturbing trends both in the wine industry and in wine purchase and consumption by the populus at large. “I have noticed this happening for a number of years and nothing seems to be done to address it.” he said. “It is my hope that this group will provide a forum of interest for all and a foundation from which we will see these trends slowly reversed.”

The founder of Vinum Essentia est Vitae is the long time wine enthusiast and entrepreneur, Robert K Jones, who had this to say of himself, “You might say that I was born into the world of wine. I was first introduced to wine when I was less than 2 years of age (this is legal in Australia) and developed a love and appreciation for wine at all levels of the industry as the years went by. I have been involved in the wine industry predominantly in Australia, officially and unofficially, for decades and have numerous reasons to believe that Wine is the Essence of Life.”

Robert went on to explain that this group and its web-based project intends to expand the appreciation for wine in a large part through education and awareness,  and as a result have a positive impact on overall knowledge, perception and thereby sales of wine, especially good wine. “Recent years have seen a significant shift in consumer purchasing trends for wine away from the traditional wine outlets staffed by knowledgeable representatives to supermarkets with nothing but shelves and discount stickers helping the wine producers to dump their massively excessive production but doing little for the industry in the long run. We have seen a proliferation of low-end to barely moderate quality wines that have saturated the shelves, heralded on all conceivable advertising media, not by those who know but by marketing companies interested in only one thing.” Jones said. .”In fairness, noone expects a supermarket to carry quality wine and be staffed with wine experts. Good job as there is no room for them anyway. We are determined to do what we can to educate this new generation of consumers so that they too might appreciate what we already know - Wine is the Essence of Life”

The groups first web-site, aptly named Wine is the Essence of Life’, was devoted to a large range of general wine and wine related information. Since its release, it has provided countless numbers of people with a one-stop source for wine and wine related information as well as a place to find incredible deals on all levels of wine and other applicable needs. You might say that it was directed more at the wine enthusiast and wine cellar owner. The web-site even had a small section addressing cooking with wine, but now they have taken that aspect to the next level with the launch last Friday, October 1 of the next web-site in the group, Cooking with Wine the Essence of Life (www.cookingwithinenmore.com) They plan further informative, focus directed wine connected web-sites to be launched over the next several months
