Great Skate in Glendale has designed a session to encourage families to get out and exercise for a healthy lifestyle. This is part of an on-going effort by Great Skate to combat
childhood obesity. The Affordable Fitness and Fun sessions will be offered from 6:00-9:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the summer and will cost only $1.00 admission!
Great Skate is located at 10054 N. 43rd Ave Glendale, AZ 85302.
According to the Roller Skating Association International:
Roller skating provides a complete aerobic workout and involves all of the body's muscles,
especially the heart.
Roller skating is equivalent to jogging in terms of health benefits-caloric consumption, reduction of body fat and leg strength development.
Roller skating is recognized and recommended by the American Heart Association (AHA) as an aerobic fitness sport.
The number of calories burned per hour while skating at 6 mph is 350 and 600 while skating at 10 mph
“Great Skate is excited to provide families with an affordable and fun alternative to exercise this summer,” said Jennifer Kroll, Events Manager. “This is just one of the many ways we are encouraging Arizona families to make a healthy move and get out and exercise together.”
