South Florida-based STARcise is on a mission to educate children and families about the importance of a healthy lifestyle by participating in StartupNation’s 2012 Leading Moms In Business Competition. STARcise is an exciting music-centered Mobile Fitness Program that teaches preschool children positive ways to be a STAR: Smart, Talented, Athletic and Respected©.
Winners of the Leading Moms in Business Ranking will be part of a very high profile list that will be published and promoted widely in traditional media such as national and local TV, radio, in newspapers and magazines, and on some of the largest, most influential websites on the web. MSN, Bizjournals, ABC News NOW (and StartupNation, of course) have been among media covering the rankings and spreading the word about these enterprising moms.
STARcise is just one of the Mom-based companies that can be voted on at
StartupNation.com. Regardless of the outcome, STARcise will continue to spread the message that obesity, heart disease and diabetes can be avoided by committing to eating right and being active at an early age.
STARcise Director Maxine Haber, affectionately known to her students as “Coach Maxine”, hopes that spreading the message of “Prevention Through Education” will result in STARcise securing one of the top 200 spots. Haber’s long-term goal is to ultimately franchise her mobile program and bring STARcise classes to preschools and daycare centers nationwide.
“I am thankful for everyone’s support so far. As a mother of two young girls and a certified Youth Fitness Instructor, I have seen firsthand the powerful influence that learning healthy habits can have on impressionable young children. That’s why I created STARcise,” Haber says. “The STARcise philosophy is that “Fitness is Fun” and I am so fortunate that I get to share with my students that being healthy and active can be fun and lead to a long, fulfilling life. I am excited and thankful for the opportunity that Startup Nation is giving us.”
