UK fast food chain, West Cornwall Pasty Company Ltd (WCPC), is planning to introduce an innovative online compliance manger to help co-ordinate health and safety procedures across its expanding empire. The Trinity online compliance manager, developed by Manchester health and safety consultancy, Shieldyourself, aims to provide businesses with a simple, effective way to store and monitor all compliance documentation online. West Cornwall, which operates 58 locations nationwide and hopes to open a further 10 in 2009, is planning to invest in the technology to help ensure all its sites are operating to the same high standards of health and safety, fire safety and food safety. Paul Corder, WCPC Operations and Support Manager, explained: “Our regional managers across the UK currently use a spreadsheet system to keep on top of compliance procedures across their stores. “To improve on that system we are planning to install Shieldyourself’s Trinity online manager, which will help standardise our compliance procedures across all regions as well as putting in place a proven system for any new stores opening up. "The low price, fast food market we are targeting is still a viable sector despite the recession so we are forging ahead with our plans to expand and we feel that Shieldyourself are the right company to take us forward,” Paul concluded. Shieldyourself have been working with West Cornwall Pasty Company Ltd for the past 18 months after the pasty chain contracted out its compliance procedures to the Manchester Science Park based consultancy in November 2007. The contract, worth an estimated £150,000 per year, has seen Shieldyourself take responsibility for all aspects of WCPC’s compliance from health and safety training through to fire risk assessments and food safety certification. “We were initially brought in to implement our unique Shieldyourself diary systems, providing WCPC with a single, easy to use resource for logging and storing compliance paperwork,” commented Richard Dawson, Head of Account Management at Shieldyourself. “On the back of that success WCPC commissioned us to take on more responsibility so we now basically act as their one stop shop for compliance, managing all aspects of compliance and facilities services across all their sites.” Richard believes the Trinity online compliance manager will add an additional level of support to the rapidly expanding West Cornwall Pasty Company, which currently sells over 10 million pasties a year from its range of shops, kiosks and mobile units. An online resource, Trinity enables multi-location companies to track staff training, monitor audit reports and store all compliance records such as PAT certificates, gas certificates and fire risk assessments for each of their sites. “Shieldyourself is committed to providing its clients with a high quality, tailored service that meets all of their compliance needs,” added Richard. “Trinity has proven to save clients money and time, increasing both compliance and operational measures as well as reducing the burden on general managers, and will be an added benefit to the expanding WCPC business,” he concluded.
