Two Months Till A Great Attempt

A Zimbabwean triple Guinness World Records record-holder in the category of The Longest Lecture, Errol T. Muzawazi, will try to establish a new world record once again and lecture on democracy for 130 hours.

The event will begin on the 9th December 2009 at exactly 12:00 GTM+1 in Cracow (Poland). It will be also webcast live on the web: http://www.thelongestlecture.com. The aim is to beat the present record, which is being hold by Professor Jayasimba Ravirala, who lectured for 120 hours on “personality development concepts” in 2007. Apart from the live webcast, Muzawazi will lecture in English in order to reach as many people as possible around the world. On being asked about his motivation to speak on this extensive subject, the record-holder answers: „I am motivated by the millions of people around the world who continue to suffer and experience repression. I am motivated by the wars around the world that are costing innocent human souls. These wars come about as a result of the lack of tolerance amongst world civilizations, world cultures, and world religions. And this lack of tolerance, politically speaking, is a lack of democracy, because democracy is all about tolerating what is different. So when I think of these sufferings on Mankind today, I am motivated to speak“. During the lecture the Zimbabwean is going to analyze concepts and models of democracy, he is also going to present his prognosis for the future. To emphasise his dream of a world of tolerance, Muzawazi will change his attire every 8 hours. By the end of the 130-hour speech, he will have put on clothing from almost 15 cultures and religions of the world. Muzawazi is an international law student at the Jagiellonian University in Poland. He has already broken the record three times: in 2003 he lectured for 62 hours 30 min, two years later he gave a lecture for 88 hours 4 sec and lastly in 2006 he took the challenge again and lectured for 102 hours. This time he hopes to deliver one more time... the final and farewell lecture. The event is under the patronage of His Magnificence, Rector of the Jagiellonian University, Prof. Karol Musiol as well as a number of educational institutions around the world.
