With a feeling of utmost lightness, both literally and figuratively, I am writing this to express my feelings of heart felt gratitude to my bariatric surgeon and all the people involved, in giving me a new lease of life!
You can well imagine the plight of an individual, who is only 37 and is suffering from diabetes, hypertension and atherosclerosis (my doctor explained to me that it was deposition of cholesterol in my arteries), finds it difficult to perform day to day activities- cannot tie shoelaces on own, has difficulty in passing through most normal passages and that too just because of his weight, which is 389 lbs!
I was always obese but my eating habits and sedentary lifestyle led me to gain enormous weight, which became actually difficult for me to handle. I was hospitalized twice and my doctors warned me that I would have to face dire consequences, if I do not reduce my weight immediately!
I started gymming obsessively but the instructor told me that with my kind of weight, it will take me ages to reduce weight. My wife was very tense and started searching frantically on internet about the options available for weight loss and then we chanced upon weight loss surgery, which seemed the only right option for me.
We had actually planned to get the procedure done in Kenya only, but because of very limited services available, decided to get my procedure done in some other country. My wife suggested that we should go to a western country like US or UK, with the belief that the quality of services would be the best there. Of course the quality of services was important to me, but equally important were the charges, so that I could at least afford the procedure. And the charges in these countries were sky high and definitely beyond my reach!
I was in a real fix and then one of my friends, who is also a doctor suggested me of going to India for the treatment. He was of the opinion that India, now with its advanced technology and latest facilities, is the ideal option for best of services at very affordable prices. It was on his insistence that I searched for options in India and god only knows how grateful I am to him for saving my life.
On contacting various healthcare facilitator companies and on the basis of their responses, I decided to go ahead with Indicure, which I found the best among the all. My case manager Shweta had fixed everything for me beforehand and I didn’t have any problem whatsoever. My Lap band surgery took place smoothly and after staying for a couple of days in the hospital and a few more days in Mumbai, I went back to my country.
Now, 11 months after the procedure, when I look back and think in retrospection, I feel it was god’s will to save my life. I have reduced almost 175 lbs and am still loosing! I am in constant touch with my surgeon and my case manager and completely follow all the precautions they had suggested. People have completely stopped recognizing me and sometimes tell my mother they never knew she had two sons and the whereabouts of my elder brother. I literally feel it’s my rebirth. Thanks a lot Indicure!
