To protect and facilitating initial health care, nutrition and education to children under the age of six, through community management, while their families develop the skills to respond to their children's needs. SOS Children's Villages revolve around the effort to give children who have lost their parents or who are no longer able to live with them a permanent home and a stable environment. The SOS Children's Village family-like structure is formed by four basic principles: mother, brothers and sisters, house and village.
Volunteers can assist by doing following tasks:- Establishing community structures, made up of families participating in the programmes who manage the community homes and centres.
Volunteers will continue to work developing the programmatical and educational aspects of an organization committed to child advocacy. Volunteers will also help women become self-sufficient, support them in the areas of personal development, literacy, information on protection from gender violence, sexual and reproductive health education and, above all, training and integration into the labour market (skills for work, job searches, micro business and micro loans, etc). Volunteers can also support families as they work at attaining better care and protection of their children, and the development of "family project" centres dedicated to improving their living conditions through education. You can also help meet the daily needs of children, providing child care for the youngest residents: the infants and toddlers need caring hearts and steady arms to hold and feed them, help them with their first steps, and play to help their socialization. Volunteers must be of age 20 or above with minimum education of undergraduation.
