TAMARAC, Fla. -- Aquarium Retail Holdings, Inc., which operates Allfish Emporium in Tamarac, Fla., has completed a lease agreement to open a full-line pet retail store in Pembroke Pines, Fla. The company is branching out from the aquatic segment and will operate the store under the brand name ‘Allpets Emporium’. The 23,500-square-foot store will carry dog, cat, small animal, reptile, bird, and aquatic supplies, and offer grooming services as well.
The store plans to differentiate itself from local competitors by strongly emphasizing its dog food offerings, specifically variety, presentation, and premium brands. Additionally, the aquatics section will occupy almost one-quarter of the location’s square footage. The store will sell live saltwater and freshwater fish, and include over 12,000 gallons of aquarium exhibits and displays. The focal point of the store will be a massive, eight-foot diameter, shark and eel cylinder aquarium.
“Executing this lease was an important step in our growth plans,” said Scott Nash, CEO of Aquarium Retail Holdings. “We can’t wait to start building the ‘Allpets Emporium’ brand, and continuing expansion throughout South Florida and beyond.”
The lease agreement was reached with KRG CREC/KS Pembroke Pines, LLC, which owns Cobblestone Plaza where the store will be located. Allpets Emporium will co-anchor the two-year-old plaza with Whole Foods. The store’s grand opening is expected in mid-2011. Indianapolis-based Kite Realty Group handled the listing.
