Right in the center of the North Patagonia Andean Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO protected area, a new discovery has been made- a forest of towering alerces over six thousand years old and unique witness to our history. After this great finding, we decided to reopen Ulaa Patagonia, without its spa section, to offer scientists, students, and all our visitors an ideal opportunity to get to know this lost forest and forge an intimate relationship with Earth and all its riches, revealed in Ulaa. And so, amidst snowy peaks and crystalline lakes, Ulaa Patagonia is reborn as a wild refuge ideal to experience mountain life and green vacations full of adventure.
Surrounded by imposing natural scenery, Ulaa Patagonia lies on the turquoise waters of the lake Lago Las Rocas, on the Tenth Region of Chile’s Lakes District. With over 1,700 acres of natural forests, this refuge in Patagonia reveals unparalleled ecological and cultural diversity which complements our mission of charming and bringing harmony to our guests.
With this reopening, we hope to achieve a higher level of awareness worldwide that will lead to greater care for our planet and a decisive change in our relationship with our surroundings, in order to lead a more harmonious way of life. It is with this goal in mind that we are committed to having the least possible negative impact on the environment and protecting the area’s unique biodiversity. For Ulaa in Patagonia we used local construction materials provided by people of the area and employed members of the neighboring community of Segundo Corral. We also have an organic garden and greenhouse to provide our guests with a fresh and healthy menu, use ecological engines in all our transportation, and recycle as well as limit our water and electricity consumption.
We also believe that it is important for guests to involve themselves in their surroundings and with the locals in order to learn about the flora, fauna, local folk tales, anecdotes, and customs of the area’s pioneers and settlers. Our objective is to help the community reap the benefits of our presence in the area, foster the cultural values and traditions of locals, and reduce any negative social impact.
The unique combination of indigenous wisdom and Patagonia’s natural charm offer a constant learning experience. Our visitors will have the chance to discover the hidden Valley of the Alerces, a forest of trees veiled for hundreds of years, participate in daily chores such as activities in our organic garden, travel the turquoise waters of lakes Lago Las Rocas and Lago Puelo, and even share anecdotes with the locals over a nice fire. Travellers will be able to explore the secrets of the area on horseback with our local guides, or enjoy canopy, Mapuche weaving classes, or trekking in the Valdivian Forest. On their way back from these adventures, our guests may taste our local delicacies and dishes made with organic ingredients from our garden and greenhouse.
These and many other experiences will leave our guests refreshed and enriched, with a sense of harmony that reaches mind, body, and soul in complete bond with nature.
Ulaa Patagonia renews itself for you and with you, with a new concept of non traditional accommodations, where the exotic and the fantastic are merged amidst striking natural surroundings.
