Jen reports: “Absolutely nothing, but it’s the processionary caterpillars that can teach us that merely following the crowd, following the followers without the proper leadership is a slow way to the death of the success in your home based franchise and in anything else that you set out to accomplish.”
In a study done by a French Entomologist, a line of caterpillars circled the flowerpot for seven days and seven nights until they finally died from starvation and exhaustion from circling the flowerpot on a continual basis. What was interesting was that there was plenty of food nearby for these caterpillars to eat. The caterpillars could have easily broken their chain to eat the nearby food, but because they didn’t break their circle or their habit of following one another; they died.
Jen Gilbert adds: ”Here comes the lesson; people behave in much the same pattern as processionary caterpillars in both their home based franchise and in life. Our habits and our ways of thinking are deeply programmed into our conscious and our subconscious mind and are difficult to break.”
