Green Business Startup Expert Offers SUNY Ulster Workshop on April 29



Glenn Croston, with a Ph.D. in biology from the University of California is also an entrepreneur based in San Diego, and runs StartingUpGreen.com to help startup entrepreneurs address their distinctive challenges.

Glenn Croston, Ph.D., author of the popular 75 Green Businesses You Can Start to Make Money and Make a Difference (Entrepreneur Press 2008) will share his expertise and inspiration at a workshop, April 29, 2009 from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. at SUNY Ulster’s Business Resource Center in Kingston.  Co-sponsored by SUNY Ulster and Sustainable Hudson Valley, the workshop will support current and future entrepreneurs in getting rapidly up to speed and evaluating opportunities in this fast moving arena.     Croston’s manual lays out a well-organized road map of economic opportunities in these categories:  Energy; Information and policy; Buildings and infrastructure; Investment and finance; Life science; Waste reduction and recycled-based industries; Food and farming; Water-efficiency and protection; Services and Transportation.     Analyzing markets, products, services, business models and the competitive landscape, the guidebook opens up numerous opportunities for evaluation.   The April workshop helps participants focus their exploration, providing context and up-to-date market information.       Croston, a scientist, author and entrepreneur based in San Diego, runs StartingUpGreen.com to help startup entrepreneurs address their distinctive challenges.  With a Ph.D. in biology from the University of California – San Diego – Glen knows the importance of finding environmental solutions for the rest of the living world and for ourselves.  Glenn, his wife and two daughters live green in San Diego with a hybrid car, solar panels, compact fluorescent light bulbs and compost.       Immediately following Croston’s workshop, there will be several break-out sessions available to the general public.
