Two Portsmouth mothers have taken inspiration from their small children to create a digital enterprise selling party bag gifts, party bags and party bag fillers online. Nicky Carroll and Becki Stewart have set up Birthday Creations as a way of harnessing 21st century online markeitng to sell old fashioned toys for youngsters parties.  Based in Portsmouth, the business sells traditional, quality items such as wooden pegs, wooden flutes, bouncy balls, wooden beaded jewellery and wooden whistles for childrens party bags. Nicky Carroll who founded the business said that Birthday Creations is a family-friendly way of getting back into business. "We'd always talked about coming up with a good business idea to enable us to work from home around our children." she said. "When I was looking for things to go into my sons party bags there was so much on the internet I wanted - I was looking for something different from the usual cheap plastic toys that are usually given ." "I fell in love with the traditional wooden party bag toys like wooden pegs, wooden pop gun, wooden beaded bracelets but could not find many sites that offered everything I wanted. So we decided to offer this service ourselves!" She and her sister-in-law Mrs Stewart will now be hoping that their homespun brainchild will prove adept at capturing the imagination of children and mothers alike living across the region.
