St. Francis University (Pa.) rises in U.S. News &World Report's ranking of Great College Great Prices and its Best Universities in the north.

St. Francis University (Pa) rose in two categories in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2009 edition of America’s Best Colleges. In the listing of Great Schools, Great Price, Saint Francis rose from 15th to 12th among master’s universities in the north. Saint Francis is ranked 65th in the north region listing of Best Universities—Master’s, up from 75th last year. “These rankings recognize the quality of our student body and the great work our faculty and staff are doing to continue to achieve academic excellence while controlling costs,” said the Rev. Gabriel Zeis, T.O.R., president of Saint Francis. The north region consists of Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland. Criteria for best universities are: peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, and alumni giving.
