Lying Dog News, Satirical Website, Relaunches Funnier Than Ever

Lying Dog News, a satirical website, has relaunched after a hiatus. The site's management, who were rolling on the ground laughing, their sides painfully sore with unremitting mirth, say it's funnier than ever.

Lying Dog News, a satirical website (http://www.lyingdognews.net, has relaunched after a hiatus. The site's management say it's funnier than ever. "The past eight years, satirists have lived large," said Philip Bishop, the editor and owner of Lying Dog News. "With Bush and now Palin and McCain, satire has been easy pickings. An Obama administration will not be so easy. An Obama administration will test the mettle of satirists -- and only the strong will survive. We feel this is a great time to relaunch Lying Dog News. We are ready for the battle. We will root out humor and hypocrisy wherever it hides." The new-look Lying Dog News, which first launched in 2005, features a hipper, more streamlined design. The earlier site had multiple categories of stories. The new site has just three: news, politics and sport. Stories are shorter and punchier. Recent stories on the site carried the following headlines: "GOP Defends $150,000 Palin Clothing Tab as Hockey Mom Essentials, Gift to the Homeless," "New Palm Beach Candidate Pledges to Be Caught in Sex Scandal," and "Dog Who Barked Up Right Tree Hailed as Messiah By Dogs Who Bark Up Wrong Tree." Bishop said other features of the website to be rolled out in the coming weeks include Facebook and MySpace presences, a blog, and a version of Lying Dog News for mobile devices. Bishop is an Anglo-American writer and web developer. His published satire dates back to 1984 when his work appeared on the op-ed pages of USA Today. In the 1990s Bishop wrote for national consumer magazines about the burgeoning computer and internet fields. For a year he was an editorial consultant to Apple, Inc. Bishop has written three screenplays, all comedies. They are very funny. Lying Dog News is not intended for readers under 18 years of age.
