DickAndJane Design Studio Refreshes Identity for Austins Toms Dive and Swim

DickAndJane Design have updated and refreshed the business identity for Austin's own scuba icon, Tom's Dive and Swim.

DickAndJane Design Studio are at it again, this time updating and refreshing the business identity for Austin’s own scuba icon, Tom’s Dive and Swim. If you’ve ever driven on Burnet Road north, you have undoubtedly seen the scuba shop located near the intersection at Koenig Lane. DickAndJane Design’s logo designer, Steve B., created the original scuba fish logo in 1992 when the store was called Tom’s Scuba, and was still owned by Janice Roseberry and Tommy Strasburger, silent partner until 1993. Warren Roseberry bought the business from his mother in 2004, and has developed Tom’s into an instructional facility for anyone from beginning swimmers to the most advanced divers, going as far as putting together dive trips for the hard-core, year-round diver. Over time, Warren began to see that Tom’s Dive and Swim was ready for a face-lift, an exciting new brand and identity as a culmination of the improved and expanded dive services. “We got together with Warren and started talking about just a simple update of his logo. I was excited to be able to update it, because I knew that it could make the shop stand out that much more,” says Steve, co-Owner of DickAndJane Design Studio, and Lead Designer. The process of updating the logo was fairly straightforward because Steve had clear ideas on his improvement concept. That first project led to a brainstorming meeting on ways to improve the other marketing materials that Tom’s Dive had in place, developing the all-important cohesive identity that is so important to the effectiveness of marketing efforts.        Many small businesses design materials without an overall strategy for messaging and marketing. Warren realized this, and as he looked around the store he noticed that many of his promotional materials and signs did not match each other, did not contain the logo, and did not match the website, one of the driving forces for marketing the variety of offerings at Tom’s Dive and Swim. “We worked with Warren to give voice to his vision with a strong and very cohesive identity for Tom’s Dive and Swim.” Steve continues. “Current customers will see the exciting new look of the website and see that Warren is bringing new energy to his business. New clients will be impressed with the comfort offered by uniformity in identity. This cohesiveness across all marketing materials echoes the energy and professionalism of Tom’s Dive and Swim, which goes far to inspire customer confidence.” “The opportunity to have Steve work on the logo update was fantastic, and well-timed,” says Warrren Roseberry, owner of Tom’s Dive and Swim. “When I saw how dynamic that project turned out, I knew I had found the ideal designer for all of our marketing items. Steve captured exactly the energy of our store in the new website, and he is carrying it very effectively through our store signs and business cards, and I look forward to working with him again in the future ” ABOUT DICKANDJANE DESIGN STUDIO DickAndJane Design Studio specializes in working with new businesses to create an effective visual identity and plan for promotion, providing clients a lasting impression.
