New Versions of SafiWorkshop and SafiServer Available

Asterisk PBX users now have a powerful alternative to configuration file based IVR and call flows. The Safi Systems architecture pairs an intuitive graphical call flow designer with a powerful, feature rich application server.

Safi Systems LLC has just released a new beta version of both their application server and designer (SafiServer and SafiWorkshop).  These betas are now available for free download. The Safi Systems Architecture consists of two primary components: the graphical design interface (SafiWorkshop) and the application server (SafiServer). SafiServer is the core component of the Safi Systems Architecture and has been built on enterprise level technology from ground-up with extensibility, scalability and reliability in mind.  SafiServer runs applications, called Saflets, created using the graphical call flow designer SafiWorkshop.  A Saflet consists of a series of "building-blocks" (called ActionSteps) that are linked together to form a kind of functional flow-chart.  Currently a large palette of ActionSteps are available including database, call control, logic, and scripting (via Javascript) tools. The company also plans to release collections of ActionSteps (called ActionPaks) that will provide advanced functionality within a specific domain such as email, Web Services, task scheduling, file import/export, and others. The SafiServer built-in telephony component allows it to connect and control multiple PBX devices (currently only Asterisk open source PBX is available), allowing for centralized call flow/IVR services. The other component of the Safi Systems Archicture is SafiWorkshop --  a graphical flow based designer that allows for the Saflet programmer to quickly solve the most demanding problems.  Some of the features included SafiWorkshop are: an integrated SQL query editor, audio editor, scripting tools, and an integrated help system. SafiWorkshop also has a limited version of the SafiServer embedded inside inside it.  This allows SafiWorkshop the ability to test and debug Saflets (in real time) locally before deploying to a production SafiServer. A commercial version of SafiServer is scheduled for sometime in Q1 of 2009.  Safi Systems plans are to release this product in two versions:       - SafiServerSE:  Low cost solution for connectivity to one Asterisk PBX       - SafiServerEE:  Enterprise level solution for connectivity to more then one Asterisk PBXs There are currently no plans for charging for SafiWorkshop. More information in the form of screencasts, walkthrough's, and documentation is available from the company's website www.safisystems.com
