"The Wages of Spin" chronicles The Philadelphia Music Scene from 1952 thru 1963 focusing primarily on American Bandstand, Dick Clark, Payola and The Methods employeed to extract payola from artists appearing on American Bandstand.

Award-winning, controversial documentary ‘Wages of Spin’ makes its West Coast debut at the James Bridges Theater on the UCLA campus on Saturday September 19th. Screenings will be held at 7:30pm and 9:15pm. Several years in the making, "The Wages of Spin" combines extensive archival research into Clark's business dealings with first-hand accounts by those artists and managers who witnessed his empire building from its inception. For the first time on film, various artists describe the deals they were forced to make by Clark's machine and the consequences of his avarice. With appearances by: Chubby Checker, Connie Francis, Fabian, Frankie Avalon, Len Barry, Charlie Gracie, Mike Love, Bruce Johnston, Danny and The Juniors, The Dovells, Jerry Blavat, Stephen Caldwell and several other music industry notables from the 50’s and early 60’s.
