Congratulations to our new Miss Teen Utah-World 2009

Gracee Blodgett of Salt Lake City, Utah is our new Miss Teen Utah-World 2009. She will be competing in the upcoming Miss Teen United States-World Pageant July 6-10 in Houston, Texas with girls from all over the United States. Gracee Blodgett is from Salt Lake City and is a junior at Olympus High School. She is 16 years old and loves to ride horses, longboard, wakeboard and play the violin. She is also active in playing tennis and basketball. Her favorite book is "Because of Winn Dixie". Her favorite TV show is "The Office" and her favorite movie is "Hot Rod". Gracee's favorite saying is by Eleanor Roosevelt, "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift. That's why it is called the Present." Gracee shares with us that she wants to work towards the prevention of drug abuse among teens. She says, "Because I think it is a really big problem. I have been touched by it personally in my family and I have seen friends struggle with addiction. I want to be able to help by promoting prevention and recovery programs in junior high and high schools." Gracee says, "I have been active in my church's young women's group for four years and I am currently serving as the president of that group. We organize service projects such as serving at homeless shelters and making hygiene kits for humanitarian services. We have also made blankets for children in hospitals and we have done many service projects for elderly citizens." She told us she is excited to compete for the title of Miss Teen Untied States-World because she thinks it will be a great experience to get to know a lot of new people, and it will give her a forum to present her concerns and ideas regarding the prevention and treatment of teenage drug abuse. Gracee says, "I think one of my talents is that I love people. I love meeting new people, being around them and getting to know them. My sense of humor makes it easy for people to feel comfortable around me and I don't take myself too seriously. I love making people laugh!"
