Top 10 Interview Tips
Look The Part
You may have an impressive CV, but if you arrive for your interview in Jeans and a T-Shirt whilst the competition and your interviewer are wearing suits....chances are you will not be invited back. Have the right amount of confidence whilst still remaining humble. You are looking for a new job presumably because you don't have one or you don't like the one you have.
Prepare
Practice with a friend or in the mirror a couple of days ahead of your interview to sharpen your communication skills. Rehearse answers to questions about your strengths and weaknesses. We all have weaknesses but sometimes, if unprepared we struggle to think of any.
Have The Right Attitude
You want to create the impression that " I know I'm great, but I do also have lots to learn". Remember nobody likes a know it all. The whole goal of an interview is to get a job offer. The idea of an interview isn't to go in with the attitude "Show me why I should work for you".
Be Prompt and Courteous!
Arrive on time. Of course traffic and delays beyond our control happen, so leave time to spare to stop these from turning into major dramas
Stay Calm and Don't Fidget!
As daunting as an interview can be, your interviewer is only human. When speaking to someone the last thing you want is to have that person fidgeting in front of you.
Bring A Copy of Your CV
In addition to you're smartly dressed, punctual self also bring along a copy of your CV. Even if your interviewer has previously seen your cv, be pro active in your interview by allowing them to view a copy so you can pint out your biggest achievements.
Ask Questions
You should always have some questions prepared for your interviewer to demonstrate your interest. Prepare questions aimed at delving into the culture and goals of the company.
Answer questions precisely and positively
Try to keep your answers as precise as possible but don't answer in one word. If required to answer specific questions about your background information, take a couple of minutes to run over the answer in your head so you're not tempted to ramble. Keep your answers honest and truthful at all times, don't be tempted to stretch the truth as an interviewer will see right through it.
Take Brief Notes.
Take enough notes to be able to explain the information you have taken away from your interview, but not so much that you are sat with your head down for the whole time your interview is speaking to you.
Lastly....Just be yourself. Don't try to be someone else as you will come out of your interview looking uncomfortable...Try to enjoy your interview, and view it as a chance to showcase what you have already learnt and what you are hoping to learn and achieve in your life.
