Apprentice Arron sets out on the business path

- Sep 13, 2011 - The 2011 Proskills Awards will be held at Alton Towers on 3 November, both celebrating the achievements of people working in the process and manufacturing sector and also highlighting its wider commercial importance. Proskills has received hundreds of entries from a wide range of employers, learners, apprentices and training providers, demonstrating all that is best about the process and manufacturing sector.

The entries have revealed the dynamism and technical knowledge of people working in the sector, qualities exemplified by Arron Clegg, who has been nominated for Advanced Apprentice of the year. Arron launched Sashes of Distinction, an energy efficient window and door specialist based in North Yorkshire. “Arron surveys most of his own work, orders materials from established suppliers and installs as part of a team, where necessary,” said Richard Bulcock of North Lancs Training Group.

The company targets high value installations with a similarly high quality product, so it’s particularly important to have strong product knowledge and technical skills. Arron has invested heavily in training, meaning he is well equipped to meet the needs of his customers. “Arron has picked up many new skills and safe practices throughout his Advanced Apprenticeship. His approach to the Advanced Apprenticeship is apparent in the quality of the work he does on site and in his portfolio. The depth of his responses to technical questions proved that he had put the time and effort into his research,” outlined Richard.
With comedian Terry Alderton presenting the prizes at the Proskills awards ceremony the event promises to be a hugely enjoyable evening that will highlight the work of both individuals and companies in the process and manufacturing sector, while also offering important networking and sponsorship opportunities.
