Enhancing Mobility
LG has announced the upcoming release of their latest Smartphone device in the form of the LG GW550. This mobile will join the likes of the LG KS360 and the LG GT505 which all aim to enhance the messaging capabilities of mobile devices. This follows in the trend set by BlackBerry which is highly credited for revolutionizing the world of mobile phones by introducing (or if not, perhaps popularizing) the QWERTY keyboard on mobile phones.
The QWERTY Pad
If anything, the GW550’s QWERTY keyboard actually looks a lot like the one present in the Nokia E71. This is definitely a compliment for the GW550 as the E71 was awarded by TIME magazine as last year’s Smartphone of the year, topping the likes of the Apple iPhone and even RIM’s famed BlackBerry. If the GW550’s keyboard’s performance is up to par with that on the E71 then it is definitely going to work wonders for the device.
The keyboard also has that same soft-touch and semi-elevated protrusion which makes it very simple to use.
A Myriad of Messaging Options
One of the best messaging features of the GW550 involves SMS or text messaging. LG was able to enhance this seemingly simplistic feature by adding a thread view which allows users to read the entire conversation much like they would an email thread. By having this handy feature on board, you can be reminded of what you wrote in your previous texts without needing to go all the way to the outbox or sent messages folder.
Aside from the usual SMS and MMS features, this device also features full support for both IM and mobile email. The GW550 allows users to use dedicated Instant Messaging clients to ensure that they are able to keep in touch with their friends and family via Yahoo! Messenger, AIM, Google Talk, or whatever else IM-ing application they may have. This mobile also features full push email support which means that you can also set up your Yahoo! or Google email accounts on the GW550. New email messages will come in like regular text messages and you wouldn’t need to check them by going to their websites using a web browser.
All these features are definitely able to enhance the mobile messaging capability of the LG GW550, while its user-friendly QWERTY keyboard is an excellent means of exploiting these features. Be sure to watch out for this device once it hits stores come Q3 of this year.
