SMBA Auction Benefits Family, Friends & Community

The annual Seattle Mortgage Bankers Association auction on April 23 has raised over $20,000 for local non-profit that helps children and families affected by HIV/AIDS.

SEATTLE MORTGAGE BANKERS ASSOCIATION BENEFITS FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COMMUNITY, WITH AUCTION PROCEEDS May 6, 2009 (Seattle WA) – Over $20,000 was raised at the Seattle Mortgage Bankers Association (SMBA) annual auction on April 23. The proceeds benefit non-profit organization Family, Friends and Community (FF&C) and will assist them in their efforts to help children and their families who are affected by HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses. SMBA president Dean Dardzinski recognized the efforts of his organization’s membership and singled out Lisa Miller of Golf Savings Bank “for the outstanding job she did in organizing this event for SMBA.” Family, Friends and Community holds several events each year to help children and their families, including a back-to-school event where kids shop for free clothes and supplies. Since the onset of FF&C in 1985, thousands of children have benefited from this and other FF&C efforts. During these tough economic times, contributions such as this have been greatly welcomed: This is a very generous donation,” commented FF&C founder and president Eileen Kechloian. “Thanks to the Seattle Mortgage Bankers we have been temporarily spared having to cut some of our programs and will now be able to go ahead with our back-to-school event and hopefully have enough funds to do our Christmas Holiday Adopt-A-Family as well.” Anyone interested in donating new items or money for FF&C’s back-to-school event can contact Kechloian at 206-954-7378 or visit the FF&C website, www.familiyfriendsandcommunity.org.
