New York, NY ~  After the tragic events of 9/11/01 Kevin L. McCrudden wanted to do something to have Americans, in particular young Americans focus on the positive things that they could do to make a difference.  He created Motivate America and lobbied several local Members of Congress to pass a bill naming January 2nd of every year, National Motivation & Inspiration Day™. This year, McCrudden’s company, Motivate America will hold The 2008 American Motivation Awards honoring motivational, inspirational and patriotic Americans.   After 9/11/01 President George W. Bush called on all Americans to serve their communities, their Nation, and their world.  In his 2002 State of the Union Address, he announced the creation of USA Freedom Corps to connect Americans with more opportunities to serve their country and to foster a culture of citizenship, responsibility, and service.  Since that time The USA Freedom Corps, which also includes The Peace Corp.; AmeriCorp.; Citizen Corp; Senior Corp and Volunteers for America has been provided a higher level of funding than under any other administration in history. The 2008 American Motivation Awards will honor The USA Freedom Corp.  In addition, will  honor: Zig Ziglar,  Personal Development Legend for Lifetime Achievement, George Martin, the ex-NY Football Giant star that walked across America to raise awareness and funds for the First Responders of 9 / 11 Randy Pausch, the inspirational author of The Last Lecture, who traveled across America and was on the morning TV circuit speaking about how to live, while he himself was diagnosed and dying of Pancreatic Cancer.  Professor Pausch unfortunately lost his battle with cancer in July.   There will also be many other inspirational honorees and recipients. “When you speak about personal-development and the companies that are immediately aligned with the topic, you think of Nightingale-Conant and Successories.” McCrudden stated.  “Nightingale-Conant is the largest distributor of motivational and inspirational books and CD’s and personal-development products in America and Successories is the largest distributor of motivational prints that are seen in almost every office and school in America !  So, I knew if they thought this was a good idea, I must be on to something!” McCrudden said. “When you think of “motivational speakers” or “personal development” giants in America, Zig Ziglar has to be near the top of the list.  Last year we honored Dr. Stephen Covey and this year we honor Mr. Ziglar, not a bad start for The American Motivation Awards.” proudly says McCrudden. The 2008 American Motivation Awards will also be honoring George Martin the ex-NY Football Giant with The 2008 Motivational Story of the Year.  Mr. Martin set out from the George Washington Bridge and walked across America all the way to San Diego !  It was a 9 month, 3,003 mile journey across America to raise awareness and funds for medical attention for the First Responders for 9 /11.  Hence the title of the organization, a Journey for 9 / 11.   Mr. Martin and the organization were able to raise over $2 million dollars for medical treatment for first responders. “I don’t think people can understand the actual accomplishment of walking 3,000 miles.  I know people that winded walking up a flight of stairs !” says McCrudden.  “To do what George did for others and to use his name and visibility to help the folks that didn’t ask any questions and just responded when America needed them most on 9 / 11 is a heroic and inspiring act of leadership and strength. That’s only one of the many reasons we are honoring George Martin.” States McCrudden.
