> With idol time available many teens find themselves on the streets or in an unsafe place. This event will provide youth with the opportunities to express themselves through the arts, music and spoken word. Put Down the Guns & Pick Up A Mic will allow them to mingle, dance and have fun in a safe environment. Selina Carrera and friends from the Philadelphia music and spoken word community have come together to use their creative voices and talents to encourage EVERYONE to Put Down the Guns & Pick Up A Mic.

> The effort comes amid growing concern that police enforcement alone is not enough to curb the violence. Hopefully this event will keep youth off the street and out of unwanted situations. Selina Carrera will perform her new HOT new single "Energy" and will be joined by friends Temple University student and artist Sock the Rapper, spoken word artist Ms. Wise and others.
