Big Blues Band Is Reality & Growing (New Jersey)
Date: 2009-12-08, 03:32PM EDT
The Jersey Boys Blues Band is now "official". Once only a dream of the band's founder Denis Quilligan, the JBBB will have their first rehearsal this coming Thursday evening, August 13th at a rehearsal facility in Plainfield, NJ. Denis, who was once a lead singer and trombone man with the legendary New Jersey band Salvation will handle the lead male vocals. The band is seeking 1 or more female blues vocalists to help front the band as well. The Jersey Boys will have another female member on the bass. "We have a guitarist and a keyboard player in place", said Denis, "but we are still looking for another guitar and keyboard. The drummers will be auditioning on Wednesday, August 19th in the evening. There will be 2 drummers selected and a possible 3rd musician to fill a percussionist spot. This is going to be a "BIG" blues band. Add a couple of trumpets, a trombone and a couple of sax players and the band will be sounding great."
The JBBB is definitely still auditioning for the horn and sax section with only 1 alto sax in place so far. That will bring the total to about 15 instrumentalists. Add a few vocalists, and some volunteer technical help and the band will total at least 20.
The Jersey Boys Blues Band is all volunteer with members committing to 1 rehearsal a week and 2 concerts a month for a 1 year period.
If you are a blues guitarist, a keyboard player, a trumpet, trombone, or sax player we hope that you will audition. We are also seeking volunteers with sound or stage lighting ability. If you have no experience we can put you to work helping with set up and tear down. Almost forgot, we could use a harmonica player for some of our songs.
The JBBB will be volunteering their talents to help raise funds for New Jersey charities and to entertain at NJ public parks concerts and blues festivals.
