Launch of Brother-to-Brother Initative on Thursday, 9/25



The 3rd annual event will launch the new Adam's Angels "Brother-to-Brother" initiative to provide support and resources for first responders who are suffering from various WTC illnesses & military members who have been wounded in the war on terror.

Pall (Founder, Adam's Angels) Phone: 516-582-5546 Email: Salute2FF@aol.com Website: www.AdamsAngels.org New York, New York     On Thursday, September 25th, firefighters, military members, veterans, 9/11 family members, and compassionate supporters of New York's Bravest will attend "A Salute to Firefighters" to honor fallen heroes and recognize the sacrifices made everyday.   The 3rd annual event will launch the new Adam's Angels "Brother-to-Brother" initiative to provide support and resources for first responders who are suffering from various WTC illnesses and military members who have been wounded in the war on terror.  Angel Awards will be presented to organizations that exemplify the true meaning of brotherhood at this year's event. "A Salute to Firefighters" will take from 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM at Saloon (1584 York Avenue between 83rd and 84th Streets). Every dollar c ollected from admission and raffle ticket sales will go directly to the SSGT Chris Engeldrum FDNY Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #12033, the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund or the Thomas R. Elsa sser Fund. Saloon has generously opened their doors to host this wonderful fundraiser for the third year in a row. The evening will feature a live performance by Celtic punk rock band, The Ruffians (www.theruffians.com) who have donated their time to play at the event.   Members from the FDNY Emerald Society Pipes & Dru ms Band (www.fdnypipesanddrums.com) will also be in attendance and play songs throughout the evening. Admission price includes: a free drink compliments of Saloon, discounted drinks and entertainment. Raffle tickets and branded beer steins (courtesy of JP Productions) will also be available for purchase. This celebration is 100% volunteer driven.  The planning and host committees are made up of amazing individuals- including FDNY members, 9/11 family members and military members who have com e together to support this wonderful effort. The SSGT Chris Engeldrum FDNY Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #12033 was instituted on 8/12/2005, in memory of SSGT Christian P. Engeldrum, the first New York firefighter to die in Iraq out of the 103 who have been activated since 9/11.  In keeping in the spirit of their national organization, they have been steadfast supporters of the rehabilitation of disabled veterans from Walter Reed and Bethesda Hospitals, assisted the widows and orphans of disabled and needy veterans and promoted Americanism through education in patriotism and service t o the community of New York City.  For more information, please visit: ht tp://www.fdnyvfw.com The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund was established in memory of Terry Farrell, a decorated member of Rescue 4/FDNY and Chief of the Dix Hill s Volunteer Fire Department. Terry perished on September 11, 2001 in the Wo rld Trade Center attack. The Farrell Firefighters fund was established to support the needs of firefighters and their families, across the nation, with educational, med ical and equipment needs. This fund supports the firefighters who serve our communities. The fund tries hard never to say no to any request for aid and have given out over $500,000 since its inception in 2002. Elsasser Fund was established in 1992 to support the families of NYC firefighters who died non-line of duty as active members of the FDNY.
