Meet the NEW Modern Stone Aged Family

Ryan and Melanie Belshee have transformed their lives into a page right out of history. As the beauty, brains and brawn behind RocLok, the safest way to hide a key within a faux rock, the Belshee's lives have quickly become stone aged.

They may not have a mastodon vacuum or need to use their feet to power the family car, but Ryan and Melanie Belshee do something that would be considered common by caveman standards, their jobs involve rocks… RocLok’s that is.   Just like Fred Flintstone working at the quarry day in and out, a common day in the Belshee household involves a trip outback of their quiet suburban home in Beaverton to make rocks by hand. These are not your ordinary rocks however but rather “the safest way to hide a key outside within a faux rock,” otherwise known as the RocLok.   Following in their prehistoric ancestors footsteps the Belshee’s career involves lots of manual labor, dirt, the inventive mind of Ryan and the creative talent of Melanie.   Inventor Ryan has always kept his wife Melanie on her toes with his zany ideas, multitude of toys and need to always be on the go. In their 12 years together Ryan has embarked on projects big and small always involving a new tool purchase and always being completed with intense precision and a meticulous eye. Much like Fred, Ryan has constantly worked hard to provide for his family and has a heart of gold, helping everyone he meets in anyway he can. For more than 8 years Ryans goal as a Real Estate agent was helping families realize their dreams of home ownership. With the onset of the market slowdown in the winter 2007 Ryan put his brain to work again and this time he stumbled upon an idea unlike anything the market had seen. Joining his past experience with contractor’s lockboxes and new knowledge of building faux rocks Ryan began thinking about how to meld the two ideas into a safe, inconspicuous solution for hiding a spare key outdoors thus RocLok was born. A new way to help people live better and safer lives, Ryan’s continued passion for helping others is the drive behind making the RocLok the best way to hide a key outside available on the market today. “Hiding a key outside to the most important investment you own, your house, isn’t something that should be taken lightly or done in an unsafe way,” says Ryan.  “In economic times like these securing our assets becomes even more important.” Ryan’s better half Melanie, brings a little personality to their rock’n product.  Responsible for all aspects of RocLok’s marketing, Melanie a graphic designer who’s previous clients include Microsoft and Cisco Systems, acts as a one woman marketing machine. Often spending hours photographing, writing about, tweeting and developing the graphic brand that is RocLok, Melanie is one busy lady. Aside from watching over the business and Ryan, Melanie works tirelessly to do the everyday things to keep the house running. Melanie has also been known to get down and dirty helping Ryan with the RocLok production and serving as quality control on every piece. From mixing and molding to cleaning, painting and packaging, Melanie and Ryan could not be a better team. Surprised friends and family member often comment on the pair’s amicable respect for one another and ability to work side by side with little more than a friendly jab from time to time.  As far as husband and wife teams go this has got to be one of the most solid business and personal pairings around. “I couldn’t imagine having a better partner” says Melanie “Most coworkers you can’t wait to get away from at the end of the day but I’m fortunate enough to not only love working with mine but be able to wake up next to him in the morning.” Together the Belshee’s hope that their ideas can help all homeowners stay a little safer, sleep a little sounder and not have to fear those dreaded lock-outs ever again. So if you’re like Fred Flintstone and your sabre toothed cat decides to lock you out in the middle of the night don’t wake the neighborhood calling out for your wife Wilma simply reach down to your trusty RocLok and get back into your cave with ease.
