Local Artist and Poet Publishes Emerging Voices

Sarasota, Florida – October 5, 2010 - Local poet and artist, Laurel D. Rund, has created and published Emerging Voices, a personal journal of grief and loss healed through creativity.

“Loss can lead us down very unfamiliar pathways,” says Laurel, “and with no guideposts to show the way, we have to learn how to be this new person that is emerging.” For Laurel, the death of her husband, Marty, led her to the Expressive Arts and a new creative “voice.” Emerging Voices is her journey on this pathway of loss, but the theme is a universal one we can all relate to: the desire to move through the devastation of grief and come out on the other side not just intact but joyful. Emerging Voices is filled with Laurel’s original artwork and poems, and readers can use the intentionally blank pages to express their own thoughts and feelings about loss and life transitions.

Laurel D. Rund is an artist, poet, and self-proclaimed Baby Boomer. She has had successful careers in business and, with her late husband, raised two sons and welcomed four grandchildren into their family. Laurel’s artwork is a combination of Touch Drawing, photographs, and three-dimensional objects in collage form. Emerging Voices is her first book. It is available online at Amazon.com, BarnesAndNoble.com and Laurel’s website, EssenceOfLaurel.com.
