Cindy Parker, 50, of Jackson Michigan, has enjoyed writing poetry for years and has now published her first two perfect bound volumes, Spectrum and Origins, in 5 x 7 paperback editions. Both books are largely free verse. Spectrum incorporates 74 poems written over a ten year period which reflect a longing for spiritual discovery and connection across a wide spectrum of themes. Frequently interweaving themes from nature, the journey of faith and redemption in the midst of struggle, the author has found in poetry a way to express her deepest thoughts and stirrings. Origins is built around similar concepts of nature, creation, faith, introspection, and spiritual hope, but also explores themes in family history, childhood memories, shared human history, and connecting past and present. It includes 32 poems plus some nature haiku. Cindy credits Lost Word Writers and Jackson District Library for their indispensible help, inspiration, motivation, and support, without which these publications would not have been possible. Both books will be available at Best Books at Jackson Crossing in Jackson Michigan by the middle of July. Spectrum is available for $12.50 and Origins is $10.50.
