D.C. Young Republicans Invade Raleigh

This weekend 50 Young Republican volunteers from D.C. are going down south to volunteer.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- On Friday the 15th at 7:45PM, 50 Young Republican volunteers will board a bus headed towards Raleigh.

They are coming to campaign for local Republican candidates including Ilario Pantano, Harold Johnson, William "BJ" Lawson and Richard Burr. This will not be the first time they go out of their way to volunteer for Republicans, this season the group is responsible for over 30,000 individual voter contacts, including nearly 10,000 over the Columbus Day weekend, when they were in Cleveland.

When asked how the D.C.Young Republicans select what areas to deploy to, Chairman Rich Counts said "We try to look for races where we can provide that final push that puts a candidate on top.  We want to bring a level of enthusiasm and activity to these campaigns that only the youth can provide.  We frequently hear that the youth is not involved with the Republican Party, so we're going across the country to show everyone that is not the case.”

Communications Chairman Jack Blakely added "One of the biggest YouTube moments of this election season was Bob Etheridge grabbing that college kid, of course I'm going to want to come down here and knock on his doors."

Why should North Carolina citizens listen to a group of Young Republicans from D.C? Executive Vice Chair Brittny McKinney wrote "We are members of a generation that was handed a $13 trillion dollar debt. We cannot and will not sit by idly while the so called leaders in Washington spend away our future. We're rallying the troops and heading to the districts to make it clear that just because we're young, doesn't mean we're going to be bullied. These elections are important to us if we're going to have a future."

The D.C. Young Republicans can be found hard at work at the GOP Headquarters in Raleigh this weekend.
